Membership and how to join in more detail

The Silverton Community Patrol Association (CPA) is an association formed by residents from Silverton and surrounding suburbs. The area of operation is the area north of the N4, east of the N1, south of Stormvoël Road running on the boundary of the suburbs Silverton and Weavind Park and west of Watermeyer Street and the Moreleta Spruit and Silverton Dale, excluding the suburb Meyerspark.

The aim of the Silverton CPA is to reduce the incidence of crime relevant to the residents in the area and in so doing, help to make the area a safer place in which to stay. This is done by putting in place crime prevention measures.

• We do this by means of voluntary involvement by the residents.
• We have established a radio communication system which allows residents to communicate with each other and other organisation on crime related matters.
• Residents are actively involved in patrolling our neighbourhood, and can respond swiftly, to assist a resident’s cry for help. A help team consisting of members of the CPA has been established to assist with this.
• The continuous patrols also increase visibility, and serve to show criminals that we are vigilant and are able to act against and prevent criminal activity.
• The Silverton CPA works in conjunction with the SA Police Force, Silverton fire services, ambulance services, the metro police as well as other associations with similar goals as the CPA, to ensure that emergency and criminal activities are dealt with as quickly as possible. These organisations work together in a partnership each with a specific responsibility.
• The Silverton CPA has also implemented or investigating the implementation of
  various other crime prevention measures, such as fences and a camera network.

The Silverton CPA “works” and you are urged to join the CPA. Come and help to contribute to the recent success and assist with various activities. In doing so, you will help to further reduce the crime in our area and make a valued contribution towards the environment in Silverton. You owe it to yourself, your family, your neighbours and your community.

In order to cover our cost in terms of our radio repeater, ICASA licence, web hosting, administration, and some projects, we request a minimal fee of R400 per household for the year (since 2017).
